Crafted by hand and rooted in generations of skill, the Buhera Basket honors the weaving traditions of Zimbabwe's Manicaland Province. Each piece is meticulously coiled using natural cane harvested locally, employing the same time-honored technique that weavers have used for centuries to create vessels for grain storage and transport. These sculptural forms carry that heritage of purposeful craftsmanship into your home today.
With its organic, rounded silhouette, the basket infuses any room with natural warmth and tactile texture. Use it as a striking standalone piece, or cluster multiple sizes together to create a layered, curated effect — the inherent uniqueness of each basket ensures every arrangement feels distinctly yours.
One of a Kind, by Nature Because these baskets are handwoven without molds or templates, no two are exactly alike in shape, proportion, or character. Variations in the curve of the bowl, the taper of the neck, and the texture of the weave are not imperfections — they are the mark of the maker's hand, and what makes each piece genuinely one of a kind. The basket you receive will be unique.
How We Measure Unlike standard home goods, Buhera Baskets cannot be measured in simple length × width × height. Their rounded, sculptural forms are measured using a soft tape that follows the basket's contour — running from the center of the base, around the curve of the bowl, and up the neck. This contour measurement determines the size category:
- Small: 12–15"
- Medium: 16–19"
- Large: 20–23"
- X-Large: 24–27"
- XX-Large: 28–32"
- Note that these measurements reflect the contour size, not the actual height of your basket.Â
