Each Buhera Basket is handwoven by the women artisans of Zimbabwe's Manicaland Province using cane harvested locally and a coiling technique passed down through generations. Named for the rural district where they're crafted, these baskets echo an ancient method once used to store and carry grain — now transformed into sculptural home accents that carry both history and quiet artistry into modern interiors.
The organic, vessel-like form brings warmth and textural depth to any room. Use a single basket as a striking standalone piece, or layer multiple sizes together for a collected, gallery-like effect — their natural variations ensure each arrangement feels entirely personal and unrepeatable.
One of a Kind, by Nature Because these baskets are handwoven without molds or templates, no two are exactly alike in shape, proportion, or character. Slight variations in the curve of the bowl, the taper of the neck, and the texture of the weave are not imperfections — they are the mark of the maker's hand, and what makes each piece genuinely one of a kind. The basket you receive will be unique.
How We Measure Unlike standard home goods, Buhera Baskets cannot be measured in simple length × width × height. Their rounded, sculptural forms are measured using a soft tape that follows the basket's contour — running from the center of the base, around the curve of the bowl, and up the neck. This contour measurement determines the size category:
- Small: 12–15"
- Medium: 16–19"
- Large: 20–23"
- X-Large: 24–27"
- XX-Large: 28–32"
