Handwoven Buhera Basket Vase - Small, Fair Trade from Zimbabwe

$148.00

Handwoven by women artisans in Zimbabwe’s Manicaland Province, the Buhera Basket Vase brings generations of weaving tradition into the home. Each piece is coiled by hand from locally harvested cane, using a technique once used to store and carry grain.

Its sculptural, vessel-like shape adds natural texture and warmth to a shelf, table, or display. Show it on its own as a distinctive accent or pair it with other sizes for a layered look; the handmade variations make every basket unique.

One of a Kind, by Nature Because these baskets are handwoven without molds or templates, no two are exactly alike in shape, proportion, or character. Slight variations in the curve of the bowl, the taper of the neck, and the texture of the weave are not imperfections — they are the mark of the maker's hand, and what makes each piece genuinely one of a kind. The basket you receive will be unique.

How We Measure Unlike standard home goods, Buhera Baskets cannot be measured in simple length × width × height. Their rounded, sculptural forms are measured using a soft tape that follows the basket's contour — running from the center of the base, around the curve of the bowl, and up the neck. This contour measurement determines the size category:

  • Small: 12–15"
  • Medium: 16–19"
  • Large: 20–23"
  • X-Large: 24–27"
  • XX-Large: 28–32"
