These nesting bowl baskets are made by the creative Wolof women artisans in rural Senegal. Traditionally, these types of baskets were used for holding grain and storing food. Over 100 women craft these beautiful baskets bringing much-needed income to help support their families.  

This modern African artistry entails weaving in the coil style by binding dried cattail stalks with plastic strips salvaged from a Dakar mat factory. 

Because this is a handcrafted item, each may vary slightly.
